If architecture was more inclusive would it also be in a stronger position? Parlour and the University of Melbourne invite you to participate in a day of discussion and debate about gender, agency and remaking the profession.

Architecture is in the midst of substantial change. How architects define themselves, how practices operate, and the range of roles and types of work pursued – all is up for grabs.

It’s also time for a more gender-inclusive profession, one that assists women and men to better balance professional and personal lives, to realise their full potential, and to stay in the profession.

Transform: Altering the Future of Architecture brings together architectural researchers, practitioners (understood in the widest sense) and workplace experts to discuss strategies for change.

Come along to spend the day with some fantastic thinkers, researchers and architects, and add your voice to the discussion.

When: 9 am – 5.30 pm, Thursday, 30 May, 2013.

Where: Spring Street Conference Centre, Mezzanine Level, 1 Spring Street (Shell Building), Melbourne.

Cost: $65, concessions $40.

ProgramThe day is organised into five sessions, each exploring change in the profession from a different perspective and scale. There will be plenty of time for discussion and we hope the audience will actively participate in the discussion. For details of the sessions see here.

Speakers: Our keynote speaker is Lori Brown. We are delighted that a wonderful range of people have agreed to participate as speakers, panellists and chairs. We are excited about bringing these people together in a discussion-based event, which will lead to an invigorating and challenging day of conversation, debate and ideas. See here for the list of speakers, with more to be advised shortly.

We also look forward to active participation from the audience.
