We encourage everyone to participate. However, we do ask that you observe certain protocols and niceties.

Discussion, commenting and sharing

We encourage robust, open discussion, but this should focus on the content and ideas at stake. Negative personal comment on individuals or organisations is not appropriate and will not be published on this site and associated platforms. There are lots of way of thinking about and engaging with gender, so please respect others’ approaches even as you debate them.

Parlour is committed to creating and maintaining safe and respectful spaces for the Parlour community across all the platforms we use. We ask all contributors to be mindful of their responsibilities in creating and supporting spaces for meaningful conversation, and the rights of others.

Please note: the comments function on the website was turned off in August 2021 as part of the website upgrade. Earlier comments have been archived and remain visible.

We encourage you to share and comment on social media platforms – find us on twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn – but please observe Parlour etiquette as well as meeting the requirements of these platforms.

Contributing editorial

Opinion pieces should be well written in a lively and engaging manner, without jargon. They should be intelligently conceived and accessible to a wide audience. We welcome polemic, anecdote and speculation along with carefully considered meditations. We welcome a wide range of approaches and topics, but all should in some way address conjunctions of gender, architecture and equity. Please contact us with a brief proposal in the first instance.

Other content

We are happy to consider other work in a range of genres, including predominantly visual material, and also to publish longer academic pieces where appropriate. Please contact us with a brief proposal in the first instance.

If you have ideas for for other sections and approaches you would like to see on Parlour do get in touch.
