Listen in to the 2017 Hobart Spring Salon conversation, as local architects Nicky Adams and Sarah Lindsay chat about their education, lives and careers, from travel and work in the “big smoke” to their return to Tasmania.
Our conversationalists for this episode are Tasmanian architects Nicky Adams and Sarah Lindsay. At the time of recording, Nicky was a Senior Associate at Terroir Architects; she is now a director of MANA. Sarah is a founding Director of LXN Architecture.
This fascinating conversation traverses many topics, from the challenges with the multidisciplinary nature of the architecture profession to part-time roles and the value of travel in education and practice. They discuss the need to be adaptable in the face of harsh economic conditions but also highlight the hard-won skills and experiences that can come from unorthodox career paths.
Nicky and Sarah argue the need for the architectural profession to acknowledge and celebrate diverse career paths within the industry, especially for women, and to recognise the value these different experiences contribute to the built environment.
