Data has been at the core of Parlour’s advocacy and activity since the beginning – led by our Data Diva, Gill Matthewson. The shock of data is a powerful catalyst for action, while the patterns revealed through analysis help light the way forward.
Assembling and analysing this data is painstaking, time-consuming work. We encourage everyone to put this data to work as we advocate for greater equity in architecture and the built environment professions.
Parlour Data Bank
The Parlour Data Bank makes consolidated, clean data on registration and graduation in Australia readily available to all. Access summary charts and detailed spreadsheets of state-by-state graduation data from 1987 and registration data from 1924!
Parlour Census Reports
The Parlour Census reports provide comprehensive analysis of data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics Australian Census, an immensely valuable source of information about the architectural workforce and shifting patterns of participation. This is contextualised in relation to registration and graduation data. Full and comprehensive reports are complemented by shorter ‘wraps’.
Workplace Gender Equality Agency data
Data from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency offers a wealth of information about organisations employing over 100 people. Parlour compiles and presents the data for report architecture and landscape architecture practices and organisations. This is an extraordinary body of material about pay gaps, workforce composition, and policies and processes. It is an excellent resource for benchmarking and a catalyst for action!
