Matrix: How We Live Now is a timely new exhibition exploring the work of the Matrix Feminist Design Co-operative, a radical feminist architectural practice active in London from 1980 to 1996. Held in the Melbourne School of Design’s Dulux Gallery, the exhibition is on until 10 October.

Join Matrix for a series of floor talks and panel discussions during the exhibition on important topics including architecture and community, bodies and cities, and writing diverse histories of architecture.

Feminist organisers and researchers at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning have been actively working to reform labour practice. The #MeToo campaign and fourth wave feminist protests remind us that gender and equity are urgent issues of our time, with inequality and harm still present in architecture and everyday spaces.

This exhibition shines a light on the voices and projects of the many researchers involved in the work of the radical London-based all women collective then and now – featuring items drawn from the collective’s open archive, alongside projects from researchers at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning on gender, bodies and ecologies.

Matrix: How We Live Now is located in the Dulux Gallery, Glyn Davis Building, Parkville. The exhibition is open between 11 September to 10 October, Monday to Friday 10am-4pm. Learn more through the Melbourne School of Design website.

Parlour is delighted to be a small part of the exhibition.
