What is compassionate leadership? What is the role of care at work? Join Parlour for another important discussion – Sarah West and Targol Khorram in conversation with Debjani Sarkar and Maryam Gusheh.

Join us On the Verandah for a conversation about compassion and care at work. We will explore what compassionate leadership means and looks like, how we can all bring care into the workplace in appropriate and meaningful ways, and the benefits of doing so – for individuals, organisations and our professions.
This is a timely and important conversation. Many people in our offices and communities are carrying additional load as devastating world events spiral. For some this has been going on for years. And of course many other people carry individual burdens from beyond the world of work.
Most of us will need care and compassion at work at some point in our careers. Most of us want to support our colleagues when needed, but some of us may not quite know where to start. And compassion at work is not merely an individual ‘nice to have’ – it good for organisations too.
We have two excellent speakers joining us for a conversation led by Debjani Sarkar and Maryam Gusheh – Targol Khorram, who eloquently raised the topic of care recently, and Sarah West of Performance Frontiers will share her expertise in leading with compassion. Book now!
Many of us had a heavy weekend, particularly those with ties to the Middle East and Iran. The grief, the fear, the uncertainty…it’s a lot. And for many, it’s deeply personal
You might notice your colleagues carrying mixed emotions that are hard to explain, sadness, anger, helplessness all at once. It’s not always easy to put into words, and many of us are putting on a brave face while navigating these feelings.
So, as we come into work, let’s remember to be mindful. Some people might welcome a check-in. Others might prefer not to talk about it, for them, work can be a much-needed break from the constant news cycle. Both responses are valid.
We don’t need to have answers or political takes. Just kindness, care, and the awareness that those around us may be carrying a heavy load.

Let’s keep choosing empathy. Let’s keep choosing care.
