After a fantastic first session with Eloise Atkinson, Saneia Norton and Kim Bazeley, we return for for more lively and thought provoking conversation at the second part of What Next? with Kieran Wong, Lee Hillam and Sonia Sarangi.

The pandemic is not yet over, but we are slowly emerging out the other side into an as-yet unknown world. Apprehensive and exhausted, but also hopeful and reflective. Those of us who spent considerable time in lockdown experienced our worlds narrow in previously unimagined ways, borders hardened and many of us haven’t seen family and friends for two years. Yet, simultaneously, new connections have developed as we all went through an unsettling, existentially challenging global experience.

Our workplaces and work habits have been shaken up, with both positive and negative impacts. Contrary to the fears of 18 months ago, the profession seems to be booming and many practices are looking for staff.  National data suggests that Australians are changing jobs at unusually high rates, while other research indicates that women, as a group, bore the brunt of the heightened juggle between work and family life.

The 2021 Light at the End of the Tunnel series is presented in collaboration with the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne. This session was recorded on Friday 26 November, 2021.
