SAY IT LOUD is coming to Naarm for the Melbourne Design Week. This ‘travelling activation’ is now seeking submissions from BIPOC and women in architecture and design active in Australia, with the aim of elevating their contributions and raising visibility.

See our faces, hear our voices, feel our impact within the colorful tapestry of our heritage.

The exhibition will showcase project submissions from a shortlist of designers across all disciplines in the built environment, including architecture, interior design, furniture & object design, urban planning, ESD and more.

Submissions

SAY IT LOUD strongly encourage submissions that meet broad and inclusive definitions of design excellence and reflect a strong sense of place, history, and purpose.

Submissions are sought from BIPOC or women architects, engineers, designers, students and planners who had a significant role in the Australian project being submitted or who reside in Australia.

  • First Peoples first
  • BIPOC (he, she, they) or women of any ethnicity
  • Students, professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives in the built environment
  • Australia-wide

About SAY IT LOUD

Founded in New York, SAY IT LOUD is a series of exhibitions that aim to cultivate and elevate the contributions of women and diverse designers. Each exhibition focuses on the work and contribution of designers from the place in which the exhibition is held. With 24 exhibitions held to date, SAY IT LOUD Naarm is the first iteration in Australia.

SAY IT LOUD Naarm is curated by Pascale Sablan, Founder & Executive Director of Beyond The Built Environment; Kholisile Dhliwayo, Founder of Culture as Creative and AfrOURban; and Sandra Githinji, Creative Director at Sandra Githinji Studio.

As practitioners in the built environment, we have the power to represent more than ourselves, and representation is essential to achieving equitable diversity.
