Watch LAB 08 Building Resilience: designing for disasters, with Temitope Egbelakin and Rosemary Kennedy in discussion with Kali Marnane and Rebecca McLaughlan. Purchase access to CPD questions below.

LAB 08 turns our attention to the need to develop more resilient practices, which respond to the realities of our finite planet. Our speakers are architect and researcher, Rosemary Kennedy and Temitope Egbelakin, Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle.

Temitope and Rosemary begin with short presentations on their work before joining Kali Marnane and Rebecca McLaughlan for a discussion around what it means for the built environment to be resilient, and how the role of the architect can adapt to support this.

  • Temitope Egbelakin – Cultural Heritage and Cascading Natural Disasters – Are we prepared?
  • Rosemary Kennedy – Thinking Outside the Building

To find out more about our speakers’ work, read Temitope’s article Towards a more disaster resilient and sustainable future or familiarise yourself with Rosemary’s recent work on humanitarian design.
