Nancy Piazzolla on the importance of regular reporting
In late February the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) released data showing the median gender pay gaps for companies employing over 100 people. Data was released on 24 architecture and landscape architecture practices. All have gaps larger than the +/-5% gap that WGEA describes as optimal; some are over the current total national gender pay gap of 21.7%.
This was a strategic move by WGEA to force a conversation about pay gaps and to accelerate change. It was about asking companies to step up, and holding them to account. It forces and fosters conversations within and beyond practices. This session of Stepping Up is part of this broader conversation. What are practices doing and what more needs to be done?
Hear from Nancy Piazzolla, Director of People, Culture & Practice at GroupGSA; Anthea Doyle, Practice Lead for NBRS Melbourne studio; and Ashley Richards, Global Leader People and Culture at Woods Bagot. All make it clear that the pay gap cannot be tackled in isolation, but must be part of a larger focus on equity within a practice.
