The Neuro-Atypical Architects Network (NAAN) is structured around support and advocacy for those in design and built-environment professions who feel their brains may be a little bit spicy.

This group is initiated by Eddie Page. Eddie is a registered architect based on Awabakal land in NSW with a long-term diagnosis of ADHD and has experienced consistent challenges balancing a wildly creative profession with the often rigid structures associated with education, registration and career progression in architecture.

On the flip side he acknowledges the great benefits an atypical brain can bring to the day-to-day practicing of his craft and wishes to encourage others to celebrate their differences as vital to the vibrancy of our industry.

Some of Eddie’s core goals for the group include:

  • The growth of an active and invested membership with regular catch-ups
  • A safe forum, for those day-to-day struggles and peer support
  • Research to help quantify what may likely be an under-reported and over-represented cohort within the profession
  • Resources for members to learn about neuro-diversity and find professional help if needed
  • Tailored resources for neuro-typical educators, registrars and employers
  • Potentially CPD events with expert input

However he hopes and encourages that the goals, scope and structure of the group will be very much defined by those who join him on this project.
