The University of Newcastle is seeking a Strategic Space Planner to work in their Estate Strategy and Planning team. This is an interesting allied-field role, and ideal for architects and designers transitioning from traditional professional practice. The role involves client-side strategic planning, spatial analytics, and project creation in the higher education sector. Deadline for applications is 1 July.

The Strategic Space Planner will lead the analysis and modelling of space design across the University to inform strategic planning, optimise campus utilisation, and guide future development.
The successful candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of spaces including teaching areas, professional workplaces, and student-centred environments, using spatial data insights, asset analysis, and stakeholder engagement to shape long-term planning and policy frameworks.
Candidates will have:
- A background in commercial design, architecture, engineering, or a related field, with proven project experience in large, complex environments.
- Experience working with teaching spaces, professional workplaces, and student-centred environments.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret spatial data to inform planning and decision-making.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to produce compelling reports and present technical concepts clearly.
