Fatigue. What does this look like for multicultural practitioners balancing their own cultural practices within homogeneous environments of practice, academia and beyond? How is this navigated and how can others help lighten the load?

Sonia Sarangi, Thihoa Gill and Saba Adil Malik join Lameesa Yousuf and Saniea Norton for a thought-provoking, valuable conversation On the Verandah. Book now!

This session of On the Verandah provides insight into the additional, often unconscious, labour that is inherent in the work of multicultural practitioners. We have a stellar group of speakers to help navigate this complex, important topic – Sonia Sarangi, Thihoa Gill and Saba Adil Malik. We are delighted that Saneia Norton is joining Lameesa Yousuf as co-convenor for this session. Book now!

The conversation will explore the push and pull dynamic experienced by many – between the fatigue of having to forge opportunities for ourselves (and others) out of necessity and having the agency to advocate for rest and reprieve when necessary. Agency and autonomy are essential to both, but can be hard to find.

We are interested in understanding the labour that is part and parcel of being a practitioner juggling intersectional practice. We will dissect the compounding effects of this often-invisible work, pulling apart what this fatigue may look like. We will examine practical solutions to help to manage or combat it and will discuss what colleagues and employers can do to help lighten the load.

Join us On the Verandah for another insightful conversation.
