Sound, space, action!
9 May 2025
12.30–1.30pm AEST
Book now for a fascinating discussion about sound and space, ethics and action – and the potential for acoustics to impact rehabilitation, climate action and community engagement.

Parlour LAB 36 turns our attention to acoustics, exploring how sound shapes our experience of space. Positioning spatial acoustics as an opportunity for creativity (rather than an obstacle to design imagination), this session will unpack sound from poetic and practical perspectives – with Luke Strong and Leah Barclay.
Luke is a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. His research examines acoustic environments in adult and youth correctional facilities, exploring architectural considerations for the design of prisons.
Leah is Discipline Lead of Design at the University of the Sunshine Coast, where she also co-leads the Creative Ecologies Research Cluster. She is a sound artist, designer and researcher who uses creativity, new technologies and emerging science to reconnect communities with the environment and inspire climate action through her work at the intersection of art, science and technology.
