The Vine is our version of speed-mentoring for students and recent graduates. These lively, fast-paced quarterly events offer connection, advice and community for those starting out on their careers in the built environment professions. For mentors, The Vine session are a quick and entertaining way to connect, offer advice and insight, and learn more about what motivates younger colleagues.

The Vine sessions are hosted by practices in Sydney and Brisbane, with plans for Melbourne sessions underway. The 2025 program is supported by Parlour Partner Bespoke Careers.

The Vine was conceived and developed by Claire Oh, in collaboration with Parlour and supported by BVN. In Sydney, The Vine is led by Claire Oh with Coco Chen and Sylvia Lu. In Brisbane, The Vine is led by Hannah Rowlands, Ashleigh Sullivan and Liam Leblond. Practice participation is led by a graduate rep within the practice.

Students and graduates have the chance to talk to approx six mentors over the course of the evening – in a sequence of 8-minute blocks. There is also plenty of time to mingle over refreshments, and is a great opportunity to meet others starting out in the built environment professions. Through intimate mentoring conversations, these sessions aim to initiate and foster ongoing relationships and a community of support, and bring light to peoples’ stories.
