Parlour is delighted to be running a WikiD edit-a-thon as part of the 2017 Melbourne Art Book Fair at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Join us on Saturday 18 March to help increase the number of Wikipedia articles on women in architecture and the built environment.
11am–1pm, Saturday 18 March, NGV International, Architecture Commission in the Grollo Equiset Garden
Drop in between 11am and 1pm. From the novice to the professional Wikipedia editor, we’ll ensure you have fun editing in company.
We welcome anyone interested in writing more women in the built environment into Wikipedia. No Wikipedia editing experience is necessary! We’ll start with a quick overview of how to write and edit Wikipedia articles, and provide assistance throughout the event for your first attempts. Experienced Wikipedians are also very welcome – we need as much help as you can offer!
Bring your laptop (fully charged), references you’ve collected on your topic, and a sense of humour. References and guidelines provided.
Preparation
Please do a couple of things before coming along:
- Please sign up to get a Wikipedia user name BEFORE the event, if you don’t already have one. Do this here.
- Think about who you want to write about – if possible collect some reference material. See here for topic suggestions and here for references.
- Take a look at the WikiD Guides to Editing Wikipedia.
See you in the Architecture Commission at the NGV International!
