The Queensland Equity Forum is a call for ideas and an open discussion about issues regarding equity in the architecture industry. If you’re keen to be involved, or just interested to hear the conversation, come along to this initial discussion event hosted at Conrad Gargett on July 11.

The Equity Forum is being held to gather ideas and give people a voice. After much interest and discussion in Brisbane over the past 6 months, its time to get together in the same room and talk about the issues we see as important.

But don’t think equity is just a gender issue! Think flexible work practices, equal pay, career progression, fighting the work culture of long-hours… Issues such as those identified in the Parlour Guides to Equitable Practice are all on the table.

If you’re keen to be involved, or just interested to hear the conversation, come along to this initial discussion event; we want to hear from a diverse mix of people and the evening is open to all. On the night, there will be a short presentation to introduce the background to the Equity Forum and the NCGE (the National Committee for Gender Equity), and then the floor will be handed over to the audience, for a open round table discussion about:

  1. What is the biggest issue for you regarding equity?
  2. How do you think a committee can be effective at addressing this?

The Equity Forum aims to gather information that will contribute towards the objectives of a taskforce that will form over the coming months.
