FounderSounds Like Design
I'm a journalist and editor; comms advisor to architects; and advocate for good design in the wider community.
Through my consulting agency Sounds Like Design, I work with practice directors and principal architects to develop comms strategies that are focussed on winning new projects and communicating the value of architecture.
I help architects to define their unique position, identify ideal clients and implement business development and marketing activities that are client-focussed and build trust and engagement.
I developed the Six Channel System to make marketing easier to implement and monitor, based on 20+ years of experience in marketing and architecture journalism.
In my writing and advocacy work, I promote the value of architecture to a wider audience - using evidence-based research about the benefits and positive impacts of good design - to grow architecture's market-share pie.
As a journalist, I contribute to magazines including HOUSES, Sanctuary, Habitus, Artichoke, Indesign and Australian House & Garden.
In 2003, after completing my Masters of Architecture History and Theory, I undertook a Churchill Fellowship to research Sustainable and Affordable Housing in the UK, Finland, Sweden and the USA, and I continue to advocate for #climateemergency targets and social and affordable housing in Australia.
