Kali Marnane

Associate Director
Urbis

Kali works to create more equitable and joyful futures as a design strategist helping clients navigate the crucial ‘pre-design’ stages of projects — from shaping visions and building alignment, navigating funding, to engaging communities and setting clear, values-driven priorities. With a passion for participatory processes, she works alongside public sector agencies, community housing providers, and schools to lay strong foundations for places that truly reflect the people they serve.

Kali is a registered architect with experience delivering educational, retail, housing and mixed-use projects in Australia and in disadvantaged communities in India and Nepal. She was awarded a PhD from The University of Queensland in 2021 on how people use and value housing and public space in informal settlements in Ahmedabad, India.

Kali’s work engages with the application of research to achieve better urban environments, including how evidence-based design and research-informed practice may transform design processes, architectural practice, and the production of cities. She curates one of Parlour's online talk series - Parlour LAB - to open a conversation between practice and research.
