Curtin University

Dr. Parisa Izadpanahi is an Associate Professor at Curtin University, where she excels as a researcher, educator, and designer. With a PhD in Architecture from the University of Tehran and extensive experience as a registered architect in Iran, Parisa migrated to Australia in 2011 to pursue her doctoral studies at Deakin University, supported by a full scholarship.

Her PhD research focused on designing sustainable school buildings to enhance children’s pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours, a pioneering effort that led to her role as the sole Australian consultant for the Public Policy and Management Institute (PPMI), a leading European Union research and policy analysis centre. In this capacity, Parisa has contributed to a European Commission project aimed at developing a new framework for sustainable learning spaces, providing recommendations to enhance the sustainability of educational infrastructure across the European Union.

Her expertise is also reflected in her role as the founder of ArchiTalks, a globally recognised series that has brought together 38 international speakers, engaging a diverse audience of practitioners, educators, academics, and students from around the world.

Parisa’s research interests have evolved to encompass smart and sustainable design and urban ecologies, energy infrastructure and technology, strategies and technologies for sustainable mobility, and data-driven urban design. Her work is characterised by extensive collaboration with government agencies and private practices, seamlessly integrating research and teaching to advance the built environment.
