Sandra Lin
Graduate of ArchitectureBrand Architects
Hello! I’m Sandra,
I'm an experienced graduate with a passion for creating sustainable, vibrant communities. My current role involves developing conceptual designs, conducting research on sustainable materials, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure to deliver projects that are both aesthetically striking and functional. My work focuses on ****education, community, early years, maternal and child health and sporting typologies.
Why Architecture?
I love art and design and was looking for a practical way to apply my creativity. I believe in the potential for architecture to shape and improve communities. I’m passionate about creating spaces that enhance one’s quality of life in both large and small scale ways.
It fascinates me that people have memory of places, but places also carry the memory of people. I’m a strong advocate for Reconciliation and First Nation involvement in architecture and design.
I’ve been blessed with opportunities to teach both undergrad and post-grad students. They teach me as much as I teach them and it’s beautiful. I’m grateful to be able to share my experiences, learnings and mistakes. Architecture is hard, and it’s emotional. The trick is turning the ‘stuck’ and frustration into excitement to get the next idea out there.
Colleagues describe me as encouraging, honest, a leader, excellent conversationalist and communicator, altruistic, empathetic, reliable, and optimistic.
Looking ahead, I see myself leading projects that push the boundaries of conventional design. I’m keen to further develop my expertise in urban resilience and placemaking and to explore the impacts of colour and thoughtful interior design.
Outside of architecture I’m a fledgling squash and badminton player. I love making art and solo traveling. I’m also a food enthusiast who enjoys cooking and discovering hidden restaurants around town. On weekends, you might find me exploring Melbourne’s many markets and exhibitions, or couch potato-ing with a good book.
