Genevieve Vu
Architect | Senior AssociateDC8 Studio
Genevieve is a Brisbane/Meeanjin based architect who, over the past decade, has struck a balance between collaborative architectural practice alongside active involvement in the design industry through committees and mentoring.
Involvement on projects within DC8 Studio has supported Genevieve’s skill set in multidisciplinary collaboration and human centric design solutions. People, place and prosperity are the main design principles to her strategic and conceptual thinking, detailed design development and built outcomes across a varied range of typologies.
Over the years, as lead and as part of a team, Gen has been involved in the design, development and delivery of affordable multi-residential housing, urban design, housing typologies within masterplanned residential communities and integrated shared community facilities. Gen has an underlying interest in longevity, reuse and curiosity about how people inhabit spaces and make them their own. This has instilled an ongoing process of reflection and adjustment to process and design.
Genevieve was previously the Emerging Architects and Graduate Network (EmAGN) QLD Co-Chair, was a sitting committee member for five years and QLD Chapter Councilor for two years. Passionate about mentoring and fostering interdisciplinary connections, Gen used her time on the committee to facilitate registration support events, generational mentoring opportunities, SONA judging panels, conducting interviews for the Hearing Architecture Podcast and facilitating social networking events with industry adjacent, emerging professionals.
