Amber Patterson-Ooi

Higher Degree Researcher

My current ethnographic research project questions the ways in which interior architecture and interior design mediate social relations. Using in-depth interviewing, narrative analysis, photo-voice, and sonic ethnography, my research aims to foreground the narratives and sensory experiences of female life-worlds within the multicultural society of Singapore.

Drawing from the fields of anthropology, architecture, and interior design, my research aims to contribute a nuanced, interdisciplinary understanding of how interior spaces can enhance or hinder social sustainability and impact experiences of health and wellness.
