Emma is an Associate and Registered Architect working at Bates Smart. Her project experience includes master planning, student accommodation, residential and mixed-use buildings. She is passionate about projects that benefit the community, improving studio culture and the wellbeing of students, graduates, and emerging architects.

As the first architect amongst her family and friends, Emma is discovering the world of architecture with fresh eyes. She believes this perspective allows her to view the industry, profession and education of young graduates with a more objective frame of mind, and assess how we can do better for the next generation. Moving ahead in her career Emma hopes to encourage and motivate young graduates to put their ideas out there and lead a path of their own in this industry with confidence.

Emma believes that by considering people first in our daily practice as architects, our industry will become more well-balanced which will be reflected in our designs and benefit the community.
