Practice ManagementBates Smart
I trained and worked as an interior designer for 15 years before making a pivot into practice management 5 years ago. I was initially attracted to design and architecture because it posed an enticing challenge - the ever-changing landscape of this career path appealed and offered constant learning and limited room for boredom.
In hindsight, early in my career, management and leadership roles superseded my design tasks. I found my expertise lay in the areas of management, collaboration, team building, project planning and operations.
My current role offers me a seat at the table within the leadership team and I enjoy being a key part of strategic business decisions and operations, having the ability to shape and drive the business. To build on my skills in this area I am currently studying an MBA with Macquarie
University.
