Julie is Senior Lecturer in Architecture for the Creative Academic Unit at UniSA. Julie is founder of the Vernacular Knowledge Research Group and on the leadership team for the Australian Research Centre of Interactive and Virtual Environments. Julie’s research is interdisciplinary and cross-culturally focussed on architectural anthropological methods to understand vernacular knowledge in the production of cultural heritage, for First Nations peoples in Australia and Indonesia. Design strategies for dissemination, curation, and re-conceptualisation of the role of cultural heritage knowledges for First Nations Peoples, are her current research. Julie is a registered architect and practiced for 19 years in Australia, UK and Malaysia.
