Ande Bunbury Architects

Andy Bunbury is a mid career Melbourne-based architect who has specialised in energy efficient and sustainable residential design since opening her practice, Ande Bunbury Architects, at the turn of the century. She has been a rebel since uni days and outside her professional career she has been a passionate advocate for sustainability and an improved environment through involvement in community and Council-based groups. Currently she is a member of Yarra Climate Action Now, Architects Declare and the Affordable Housing Reference Group at Merri-bek Council. She is passionate about improved housing options and believes that the current housing crisis cannot be solved without radical change to the Planning scheme, economic models, and public expectations about what constitutes home.

Winner of various national sustainability awards, Ande’s projects go beyond looking just at sustainability as an energy efficiency measure and recognise that the current climate crisis needs buildings that are future proofed for change, encourage the occupants to use sustainable transport and develop resilience and connection with community. Good architecture should exert pastoral care of the occupants of the area (human and not), the local community and the environment.
