Siobhan Toohill

Non-executive Director and Sustainability Advisor
Pure and Applied

As a trusted sustainability advisor to government and business, I guide policy and programs addressing climate change and net zero, natural capital, human rights and social impact.

For over 20 years I led sustainability in ASX50 companies, including Chief Sustainability Officer, Westpac (the first CSO to be appointed at a major Australian bank) and GM Sustainability at Stockland (established the sustainability function).

I've been at the forefront of shaping industry tools - including the UN's Principles for Responsible Banking, the Net Zero Banking Alliance guidance, GreenStar Communities and NSW Government's BASIX.

Currently, as a member of the Australian Government's Nature Repair Committee, I'm part of establishing the world's first national nature repair market. I'm also a non-executive director at Landcom. My other advisory and governance roles cover investment, anti-slavery, urbanism and social enterprise.

I'm passionate about the role of business in realising positive social change, having co-designed social impact initiatives across child safeguarding, Indigenous engagement and strategic philanthropy, including backing social enterprises.

At the heart of my work is putting people at the centre, our relationship with nature, and responsibility to address a changing climate. My background in urban design and architecture has provided me with valuable skills and perspectives to be able to do this.
