Nailah Masayu
Nailah is a multi-disciplinary designer and emerging artist with a passion for human-centric design, cultural heritage conservation and community and youth empowerment.
Nailah has gained professional experience working in multi-award winning studios such as Kerry Hill Architects (Singapore), Smart Design Studio and Dunn Hillam Architecture + Urban Design. Her agility to shift between scales and sensibility to the vernacular is reflected in her diverse portfolio of high-end hospitality, heritage, cultural, healthcare, education and mixed-use projects located in metropolitan and regional areas around the world.
While at university, Nailah has been recognised with multiple awards for architectural design and research including a scholarship for a study program with CEPT University, Ahmedabad. She has also tutored undergraduate design studio and a postgraduate history and theory course called Designing for Diversity at UNSW.
Away from the built environment, Nailah helps curate community and cultural events with An.Other Collective, a sisterhood of 30 creatives based in Sydney and Melbourne. Nailah also makes art to create conversation around faith, identity and culture, which has been exhibited alongside other collective members at “In Essence” (Bankstown Arts Centre, 2023) and more recently, as part of a mentorship program with established artist Khaled Sabsabi and in collaboration with Diversity Arts Australia at “InterGenerate” (Sydney Opera House, 2024).
