Kiri Bowmer
Senior Landscape Architect & Architectural GraduateJPE Design Studio
Kiri is a registered landscape architect and architectural graduate working in South Australia. Since graduating, Kiri has worked on projects ranging in scope across landscape architecture, urban design, product design, architecture and planning. The projects she has been involved in range from open space, public art, urban design, strategic reports, playspaces, masterplans, residential and commercial developments. Of particular note, Kiri worked with local artists Christine Cholewa and Deb Jones (Jam Factory, CHEB) and Marijana Tadic on the Place of Courage project for client Spirit of Woman - Australia’s first ever contemporary, commemorative public artwork and associated space that raises awareness of the impact of family and domestic violence.
Kiri comes from a creative background and enjoys a hands-on approach to design. Kiri is interested in landscape architecture as a tool to foster meaningful social, cultural and environmental change, in particular the response to climate change, healing landscapes and eco-tourism and links with land and country. At JPE Design Studio, Kiri is a member of the sustainability committee, advocating for a sustainable approach within the studio and projects respectively. Being a tactile, hands-on designer, Kiri is passionate about materiality, in particular using local materials that improve and develop over time and tell a story of ‘place’.
Kiri has tutored at Adelaide University in Representation and Studio subjects since 2016, and was also recently awarded the George Alexander Fellowship to research plant dyes and healing gardens in 2023. Outside of architecture, Kiri enjoys hiking, painting, digging in the garden, camping and film photography.
