DirectorR O D A - architects
RODA are an all-female firm with decades of skills in education, multi-res and commercial projects. Our side hustle is activist: we agitate for and prioritise projects that mean the delivery of critically needed crisis housing, social and affordable dwellings and education projects.
Architecture is many things - for RODA we seek to deliver spaces that create a sense of 'ease'. Ease starts with the concept design: it might be orientation, outlook, enclosure. It moves through procurement - looking at building methodologies and materials - and ultimately to occupation and use. For the client, occupant or user 'ease' might look like affordability, safety, dignity, amenity, beauty, sustainability or accessibility. Prioritising ease sustains our clients, industry and our own practice.
RODA wants society to have a sustained engagement with architecture. Our particular goal is to have an ongoing, recurring relationship with our various clients and to also our colleagues. We want to retain women in our industry long term. We embed flexible return to work arrangements in our office culture ... whether that's kids in the office or working from home.
We also answer the call of mentorship in order to develop thick construction and project delivery skills in our young graduates. It is a passion; and we view mentoring as the duty of any senior architect. Designing and also DELIVERING projects continues the trajectory of learning.
We strive for positive outcomes of considered design responses, careful material selection and the prioritisation of people and their lives - it enriches us all.
