Debjani is a Registered Architect in both NSW and India and has worked across a diverse spectrum of projects. Debjani began her career in India before moving to the Netherlands and then to Sydney where she has worked on a series of health and community projects of different sizes. She is highly skilled and an experienced associate with a strong background in design management, project management, and team leadership. She has a proven track record of delivering successful projects while ensuring design excellence and value for money principles. She is adept at collaborating with project teams and stakeholders to develop project briefs and achieve client business objectives. Her expertise is in engaging and managing consultants and contractors, ensuring high-quality documentation, and advocating for the project’s interests.

Currently Debjani is focused on exploring and developing a knowledge base in sustainability for laboratories through her involvement with The International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL). While in HDR, she worked with management to facilitate HDR Australia to become a signatory of Australian Architects Declare (AAD) in 2020. She continued engagement with AAD by participating in First Steps in Reducing Embodied Carbon: applying new methods, tools and workflows in collaboration with University of Sydney
Masters Students.

Debjani was part of the AIA “Practice of Architecture Series” (PALS) Working Group and a PALS tutor. Debjani is one of the founding Board Director for Biyani House - Revesby Women’s Community Shelter, which is a crisis accommodation for women and kids fleeing Domestic Violence. She is currently serving as the Chair. She is also part of the Property sub-committee and managed the refurbishment of the house to convert it into a Shelter. As part of her current committee role, she is managing the expansion of the Shelter. She is also a member of Inner West Council's Housing and Affordability Committee (HAAC) which advises the Inner West Council on improving housing options that support the retention of a diverse and inclusive community.

Debjani has a keen interest in the interface of art with architecture. She was part of the team that organised eLuminate Festival 2014 in Cambridge, UK. She collaborated with ARTeConnect to create a bamboo pavilion which provided the backdrop of the events at EDGE Ashfield 2019 - a community festival that marks the end of the autumn harvest.
