Ileana Lanfranco
ArchitectBates Smart
Ileana is a Registered Architect (NSW Reg. #11508) at Bates Smart, working on commercial and mixed use buildings, with a particular focus on facades design and environmental performance. Ileana has a master's degree in Architecture for Sustainability Design (with Honours) from Polytechnic of Turin. During her exchange programme in Sweden and her working experience in Italy she had the opportunity to deepen design principles around sustainability.
Her professional experience as a Registered Architect in Italy allowed her to gain knowledge on the management of a medium-sized and small-sized architecture firm and to work on a variety of projects spanning from refurbishment and conservation to residential, multi-residential, commercial, education and energy-savings procedures.
Once she relocated to Australia she has worked in large firms, understanding the australian architectural process and working on multi-residential, mixed-use, commercial, universities, museums, aquatic and leisure centres, masterplan and education projects.
Her interest in biomimicry, learning from nature to apply to architecture, make her strongly believe that it is a key component for sustainability design.
Ileana tutored Lighting, Acoustic and advanced Environmental Control at University of Technology Sydney at 3rd year of architecture.
