Birdy Bird (they/them)
FounderThe Land Back Foundation
With a diverse set of professional experiences in seed collecting, circus rigging, hospitality and entrepreneurship, Birdy never intended to register and practice capital 'A' architecture post graduation. Since completing their studies at the Queensland University of Technology they have worked in community development and social impact sectors. Their experiences have focused on implementing social justice frameworks and collaborative design processes alongside First Nations people in regional, remote and urban communities.
Birdy has recently launched their most ambitious project to date; the Land Back Foundation. This large scale reparations project educates settlers and provides practical mechanisms for redirecting colonial wealth into Indigenous housing and land based projects under the guidance of a 100% First Nations board of directors.
Birdy is an advocate for more inclusive environments and language within the built environment and design industries.
