Sophie Adsett

Student of Architecture

Sophie is a Master of Architecture student at the University of Melbourne, with practice experience in London at DeMatos Ryan Architects, notably on the Museum of Childhood, and at Decibel Architecture in Melbourne. She has attended TU Delft on exchange as a Global Scholar and completed a semester at the new London School of Architecture.

Sophie has a multi-disciplinary practice collaborating with filmmakers and artists in Australia and London. This has resulted in a collaboration with VCA Graduate Felix Adsett in an experimental short film that was included in the Market Pics category of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

Sophie has an ongoing collaboration with Anwyn Hocking. This has resulted in their piece ‘Uninterrupted’ being published by Caliper Journal in their 2020 Shift edition. Additionally, they are currently leading Parlour Reading Room initiative to provide a space to come together as a community to connect and engage with feminist theory and practice.

Sophie is passionate about the intersection of art and intersectional feminist theory in architecture and the contribution that multi-disciplinary creative practice can add to this conversation. She is also a member of ArchLobby and advocate for more inclusive, diverse, and equal practices.
