Renee McGuinn

Director / Architect
MAAD Studio

Renee is what you would call a practical architect, equal parts designer, project manager, documenter and administrator. A University of Tasmania Master’s Graduate in 2011 she moved to the NSW South Coast to be closer to her family in 2012. What followed was a love for a community that she could never leave. Working in a regionally based commercial practice she met everyone, where she had opportunities to design and retrofit school buildings, aged care homes and community facilities. When you work with the community you soon realise that everyone needs access to good design that understands the nuances of that community.

With that focus doubled with practicality, Renee thought it a great time to step out on her own, she created MAAD Studio in August 2020. MAAD Studio is an opportunity to develop her thoughts on regional architecture, women in regional practice and avenues for supporting young designers to move to, live in and thrive in the regions. Renee is an active member of the NSW Australian Institute of Architect’s Regional Committee and a mentor for young business professionals in the Shoalhaven.

Renee wants to help shape a stronger and more resilient South Coast Community through the built environment. To provide creative design outcomes, paired with achievable budgets, incorporating sustainability into each design.
