Saran Kim

Saran Kim is a student of architecture, passionate about teaching and advocating for site-specific architecture informed by ecological, historical, cultural and social contexts.
She completed a Bachelor of Design (Architecture and Landscape Architecture) at the University of Melbourne in 2019 and is currently undertaking a Master of Architecture at the University of Melbourne (2021-2022). During the gap year in 2020, Saran attended the Architecture Foundation Student Summer School in Pittwater, which became a pivotal experience.
Saran was the Student Organised Network for Architecture Victorian Chapter Representative in 2019, contributing to the successful delivery of local and state events such as Ask an Architect and Upscale. During her Master's degree, she worked as a graduate representative for the Faculty Academic Programs Committee, advocating for student engagement in the university and faculty-wide strategy developments.
Saran has worked in a residential firm during her Bachelor's degree and is currently working at Architectus as a Student of Architecture. Alongside her study, Saran has also worked at the university as a Peer Assisted Study Session Leader, a Technical Tutor, and a Sessional Studio Tutor for undergraduate theory and studio subjects.
Saran has been volunteering as a Tourism Guide through the City of Melbourne since 2017 (currently on hold due to Covid) and is a Volunteer Trained Listener for one of Japan's leading online counselling services. For her hobby, she plays percussions in the Australian Youth Band, performing at various places and events, including the Anzac Day march, NGV, Crown and Australia Day event at Swan Hill.
