Special Counsel in planning and environmental lawSparke Helmore Lawyers
I’m a registered architect and lawyer, currently employed as Special Counsel in the planning and environment law group at Sparke Helmore Lawyers.
In 1995, I graduated from architecture at Sydney University and practised for 5 years before starting a law degree to pursue my interest in understanding the planning law framework in NSW.
In my role as a lawyer, I act for and advise local councils and developers as to how best to navigate the (ever changing) planning system.
My particular area of interest is urban design. Whilst studying architecture I was fortunate to have spent time in the urban design programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
So through my work as a lawyer, I have the opportunity to consider planning issues at both the ‘neighbourhood’ level and on a much broader scale (particularly in my work for regional councils).
