Anne Taylor

Principal Architect
Taylor Buchtmann Architecture

Anne is a partner in the Adelaide-based studio, Taylor Buchtmann Architecture (TBA), a registered architect in SA and an active member of the AIA.

Anne is interested in the large and small ways we make things, and why we make them as we do. Exploring by making is a central tenet of Anne’s work; her studio is awash with models.

In 2018 Anne was a jury member for the SA Chapter Awards, and a jury chair in 2019. Anne has also been engaged in sessional teaching and critique at both the University of Sydney and the University of Adelaide.

Anne graduated from the University of Adelaide having pursued art history and English literature in tandem with architecture. These parallel disciplines continue to inform her work. Relocating to UTS to complete her architectural studies, Anne spent 13 years working in Sydney gaining expertise in adaptive reuse, public and cultural buildings, and working on architectural elements within the larger scale of landscape architecture. Her dissertation on narrative structure in architecture continues to influence her work.

Anne brings this wider perspective to what is currently a predominantly residential practice, providing a distinct viewpoint on smaller scaled work. The deliberate creation of an (extra) small practice has dictated intimate involvement with all aspects of projects. Several recent projects have been commended. After 25 years of working in architecture, Anne continues to be interested in the ways in which architecture sits alongside and intersects with other disciplines.
