Michaela Prescott

Dr. Michaela Prescott is a landscape architect with experience in both professional and academic contexts. Her research centres on the socio-cultural dimensions of landscapes and urban environments, and the evolving relation of landscape / ecology, infrastructure and urbanisation. Committed to an action-research agenda, she is working on Monash University’s Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) project which positions itself at the intersection of architectural research and international development.

Her interests include participatory design, community development, and the challenges of water and rivers in urbanising cities. She has worked in private and commercial practice in Australia, Singapore and the Netherlands, and in municipal landscape design and strategic planning in Melbourne, Australia. She has been a lecturer at RMIT University, and an invited design critic and guest speaker at universities in Australia, Switzerland, Singapore and Indonesia.
