Mary Mealey

Self-employed town planner
Mary Mealey Urban Planning Services

Over almost 40 years, I have had a rich career in town planning, mostly in Queensland but also in Victoria and the ACT in my early career.

I have a strong interest and background in resolving strategic planning issues, having worked in state and local government, as well as in consulting. This includes clearly identifying relevant stakeholders and ensuring they are fully engaged in change processes.

In recent years, I have worked with the Queensland government on system framework projects, in particular as part of the team drafting the Planning Act 2016 and ensuring its effective implementation.

I was elevated to Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia in 2016, and I am a member of the Women in Planning Network Committee of PIA (Qld), as well as the Qld Planning Awards Committee.

I am also a Director of The Lady Musgrave Trust, providing housing and support to young women at risk of homelessness in South East Queensland.
