Natalie Miles

Architect / Educator / Researcher
University of Melbourne

I am a registered Architect (VIC), PhD Candidate at the University of Melbourne, and educator at the Melbourne School of Design.

My research focus is social infrastructure, and looking into how social infrastructure networks, including schools, are currently operating. Starting from an interest in how schools interact with their urban environments, both physically and operationally, this has expanded to include social and community infrastructure more broadly. This research is connected with the ARC Linkage project "Building Connections: Schools as Community Hubs" at the University of Melbourne.

I also work with the Built Environment Learning and Teaching (BEL+T) group at The University of Melbourne, with a focus on studio pedagogies.

This current research and teaching phase in my career follows 15 years working in private practice in Melbourne and Sydney. Most recently this has included being a sole practitioner, and an Associate at Austin Maynard Architects.
