Emma Scragg Architect

An architect, adventurer, writer, photographer and mother, I work a short walk from my home in Auchenflower in a shared office space with other architects. I have run my own architectural practice since 1990 alongside working with Riddel Architecture (now Conrad Gargett) and Michael Gunn Architects. My passion is all things sustainable and I prioritise climate and site appropriate design solutions which minimise environmental impact and take into account social and long-term economic sustainablity. My work focusses mostly on residential-scale projects but also heritage conservation and adaptive reuse. I see that heritage work can be the ultimate in sustainable design, preserving existing built fabric and adapting for new uses.

I write articles for the quarterly-published "Sanctuary" magazine published by Renew and am always on the look out for innovative and sustainable homes to write about in Queensland.
