Marine Rouanet

Architect
Hassell

Marine is driven by the idea that simplicity in design can improve everyday experiences – and pursues this in all aspects of her design work.

After graduating from Paris-Belleville Architecture School in France and working in Paris and Lisbon, Marine moved to Melbourne in 2011 and joined Hassell as an architect. This international experience gives Marine a broad perspective of design processes and practices (and has made her proficient in a lazy four languages – French, English, Portuguese and German). It also makes her a unique voice in informal and formal crits and on juries.

Marine has an exceptional awareness of complex urban sites and their potential for transformation. She’s always keen to share her experiences of how any designed element can initiate the regeneration of spaces, places and territories.

At Hassell Marine has worked on a diverse range of major educational, residential, urban design/infrastructure and arts and culture projects, like the Western Edge Biosciences precinct at the University of Melbourne and Blackburn Station. Her passion for bringing strong design intent to life, refining the detail and ensuring that quality endures have meant she is increasingly involved from concept to delivery phases of projects.

Outside of work, Marine designs and builds household furniture – just another way she likes to create simple designs to make life better.
