Alex Small

Director
Cox Architecture

Alex is a Director of Cox Architecture and has a creative approach to architecture with the focus on the quality of the space, be it internal or urban, to stimulate and encourage people to take part in the places in which they live, work and play.
Alex has a specific interest in improving the liveability of cities and the potential to instigate positive development and regeneration of the city. Alex has led teams on a variety of large-scale residential, commercial, education and hotel projects. But her greatest challenge has been in transport infrastructure projects, including the upgrade of Wynyard Station, North West Rail Link, Sydney Metro and Westminster Underground station. She enjoys the experience of multidisciplinary team collaboration which drive these large scale, city shaping projects.
Alex is focused on the idea of changing the professional landscape, and as a Leader at Cox she has an opportunity to change the approach to practice. She is currently involved in Champions of Change, to promote women in leadership roles, and Career Trackers to promote increased participation of Indigenous Australians in architecture.

Alex holds a Ba(Hons)Arch and an MA from the Royal College of Art.
