
Yvette Breytenbach

Yvette Breytenbach settled in Hobart in 1991 having grown up and qualified in South Africa. She is a director of Morrison & Breytenbach Architects, a registered Tasmanian architect, a Fellow of the AIA, and the Institute Chapter representative on City of Hobart’s Urban Design Advisory Panel (UDAP).
Yvette brings urban design, architectural and socio-spatial expertise to these roles. The practice integrates social and environmental sustainability and equitable access as core design values and has been widely awarded for its environmental sustainability, arts, educational, single and multi-residential projects in Tasmania.
Yvette is an advocate for gender equity in the construction industry. From 2017 - 2019 she became the 2nd female President of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Tasmanian Chapter, served as an AIA National Councillor and a member of the Board of Architects Tasmania. She is a Tasmanian examiner for the AACA Architectural Practice Examination (APE).
She has been a jurist for the AIA ACT Chapter(2019), Tasmanian Emerging Architect(2017 & 2018), Tasmanian Chapter (2003) and the AILA (2007) Annual Awards.
