DirectorStudio Ilk Architecture & Interiors
Founding Director & Architect at Studio Ilk Architecture & Interiors.
Graduating with honours from the University of Tasmania in 2003 Kate spent her formative professional years working in both Tasmania and the UK. Returning to Tasmania in 2007 and after co-directing MGA.I for 5 years, went on to establish her own practice, Studio Ilk, in 2020.
Studio Ilk is a small, ambitious practice working across a broad range of project typologies—from small-scale residential alterations with a heritage focus to large commercial and landscape-driven works. The practice is committed to producing highly resolved, enduring design solutions that perform for their occupants and respond uniquely to site, client and context.
As a team, Studio Ilk shares a strong connection to place in lutruwita/Tasmania, always seeking to understand the individuals behind each brief.
Kate is an active member of the Australian Institute of Architects. She has recently served as a Chapter Councilor for the Tasmanian Chapter and currently contributes as a member of the Chapter’s Practice Committee.
In 2023 Kate was invited by the ACT Chapter to speak about her work and practice at the NGA as part of the Contemporary Australian Architects Speaker Series.
