Chris Major is a founding principal of the award-winning Sydney practice Welsh + Major. Welsh + Major work has been recognized by numerous awards, with a portfolio that includes public spaces and private homes, restaurants and bars, galleries and shops, workplaces, and the reinvention of historic buildings. Their work seeks an artistic resolution of programme and detail with a focus on context and landscape, memory and material.
 
Chris a an active member of Australian Institute of Architects, having chaired the NSW residential awards jury, been a mentor in the Institute program, and regularly delivering lectures as part of Institute talks program and CPD events program. She also regularly gives talks at the Sydney Architecture Festival and other conferences and events. Chris is a strong supporter of architectural education, having taught at both the University of Newcastle and UTS as well as giving regular lectures and participating in design crits and on competition juries.
