For several years Sandy wrote a newspaper column called “Meet the Architect” introducing WA architects to a broad audience.
Through her role on not-for-profit project Historic Heart, Sandy worked with the city’s major stakeholders to revitalize Perth's east end with public art and landscape initiatives. The project included documenting the heritage architecture of the neighbourhood, creating an App, website and brochure series.
Sandy’s commitment and contribution to architecture has been recognised in two awards – 2020 WA Emerging Architect Prize and 2018 NAWIC Social Responsibility Award.
In addition to architecture, Sandy holds degrees in law and commerce, starting her career as a lawyer in 1997 before returning to university to pursue her passion and become an architect.
Sandy has served on not-for-profit boards for the past decade and is currently a board member of the State Library of Western Australia and a member of committees of the Law Society and the National Trust.
Past roles include Deputy Lord Mayor and a Councillor at the City of Perth from 2020 to 2023.
