Stephanie Smith

Stephanie is a principal architect (Lendlease), executive architect for the Renzo Piano One Sydney Harbour Towers (Barangaroo) and is developing new modular retirement living product.

She studied architecture at the University of Sydney. Her Masters of Architecture (Research) at the University of Queensland was a study of self-constructed Aboriginal housing in north-western New South Wales, and was published in the book “Settlement: A History of Australian Indigenous Housing”.

Stephanie co-founded the design practice Innovarchi, and has worked with John Andrews, Herman Hertzberger and Renzo Piano. She has received several awards, grants and scholarships. She has a range of teaching experience including: lecturer and tutor in Aboriginal Environments at UQ and in Design at UQ, QUT and UNSW. Stephanie is active in the wider profession – she was a facilitator of the Aboriginal Housing Conference, a state government Women in Business mentee, a mentor in the NAWIC/Australian Institute of Architects Mentor Program, she sat on the Australian Institute of Architects Housing Committee, has been a juror for the Australian Timber Design Awards and the NSW Institute Awards, and was a committee member for the new University of Sydney Professor of Architecture and the Advisory Board for the architecture curriculum.
